Friends on Friday – Jill Egan of Kiln Fired Art

Its fair to say that I love the work of everyone I’ve lined up to interview this month, and I do, I love Jill’s work. Her beautiful exquisite hand painted ceramics get me quite weak at the knees! She also does glass fusing, lampwork, metal work (her ‘Wooly the sheep’ is just fab!), ceramics and enamelling.

Here’s her website:
Which has linkies to her shop, blog etc.

Ok, so everyone got the same set of questions, and they are allowed to not answer any that they can’t or don’t want to. I’m nice like that 🙂

So here goes with Jill’s q&a:

What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?

Sailing to Philadelphia, Mark Knofler and James Taylor

Do you come from a creative family?

Yes, my mother was a dressmaker, my Gran could make almost anything, a great recycler with ‘make do and mend ‘ attitude

Name up to 5 artistic influences in your life.

John Blockley, artist

Russell Cullen, watercolour teacher

Sheila Davison, china painting teacher

Margaret MacDonald, artist

What colour are your bedroom walls, and why?

Off whitecalm, small windows and sloping ceiling, works well as a backdrop for my bits of artwork

Who are your favourite artists?

John Blockley

Joseph Wright

Any of the Pre Raphaelite artists

Do you have any body art? Where and why?

No, just freckles

Which super hero are you?

Don’t know, I’m just me

Who in your life do you like to create for? What does your creativity mean to them?

Anyone, I’m not fussy, I just hope they like it

Is there anything you haven’t tried yet that you would like to?

Glass blowing

Where would you go to on a weekend city break, if you had the choice?

When was the last time you took a walk just for the sake of it? Why, and how was it?

I try to walk every day but we have been so busy my last walk was 7 miles 2 weeks ago, it was brisk, tiring and yet relaxing.

What thing about you is the least known?

I’m left handed

Thanks Jill for a fab interview!
